Finding Grounding in Creation
Lauren Chorey BiO
Living in Lake Tahoe area since 2005, Lauren is an artist and ski instructor with a love for the outdoors. Originally studying fine art at Colorado State University, she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Metalsmithing & Jewelry. She furthered her education through the Graphic Communications program at TMCC in Reno, NV. Her true passion is implementing color theory, spacial awareness, and visual balance into her paintings both large and small scale.
Lauren was raised in a Navy family and has traveled and moved across the United States many times. Her husband, Nathan, brought her to Lake Tahoe after college and she fell in love with this amazing place. Lauren and Nathan are currently living in Tahoe Vista, CA where they are raising their three children. Each summer they enjoy a few weeks on Cape Cod, fishing, swimming and enjoying family time.
Inspiration for Lauren’s paintings come from the many hours she spent driving across country with her family, gazing out the window, soaking up the land and sky and the various colors they portrayed throughout the day.
Inheriting a love of gemstones and jewelry making from her grandma, Lauren has loved creating pieces since a young age. She continues designing and hand making jewelry in her home studio.
Painting and jewelry making, for Lauren, offers an outlet from the busyness of life and raising her family. It’s also something she enjoys creating alongside her children. They’re the best cheerleaders and the best critics!
